BETTE, COME BACK

Bette should be back by now

She’s never been this late before

Did she get lost, get hurt, somehow

He stood at his open door

The rain was really coming down

He heard the lightning crack

Did Bette meet someone in town

Why hasn’t Bette come back?

CHORUS:

Bette, come back, come back, come back
Bette, it’s starting to storm
Bette, come back, come back, come back
Come back where it’s cozy and warm

Though sometimes they don’t see eye to eye

There are so many good times they’ve had

And Bette has never gone bye-bye

And Bette has never been bad

He hollered out unheeding

“You have a home and love”

His voice was almost pleading

“Bette, what are you thinking of!”

CHORUS

THIRD PART:

Sometimes she acts a bit cheeky

And sometimes a little bit funny

But Bette’s never ever been sneaky

Or gone out looking for a honey

He felt so lost, felt so alone

As he fell upon his mattress

He was holding back another groan

When Bette walked across his chest

She licked his cheek and began to purr

She curled up beside his head

Then he remembered thunder frightened her

Bette was hiding under his bed

CHORUS:

Bette’s come back, she's come back, she's come back
She’s safe now from the storm
Bette’s come back, she's come back, she's come back
She’s happy where it’s cozy and warm
