Frozen Strings

I’ll tell you a tale of a chilling cold scene
And a lovely young maiden once warm and serene
Till an icy splinter turned her heart into winter
And she became the snow queen

CHORUS

Suitors came calling, from peasants to kings
To court her with all kinds of musical things
But their notes would buzz if only because
They couldn’t play with frozen strings

Her plight was well known, yet no one really knew her
Till a man brought his old guitar to woo her
Deep in her eyes he saw sunny skies
And he saw only truth would get to her

CHORUS

He saw she was one of life’s broken things
No bird can fly with frozen wings
But his music would fail like an off-key scale
How can you play with frozen strings

If music could thaw the coldest heart
It must be more than work of art
So he played with his soul like a burning coal
He played till it almost tore him apart

CHORUS

He played with the spirit of tumbling springs
He played with the love a bird when it sings
He played his yearning, his passion, his burning
And thawed her heart and his frozen strings
