Harlequin

Bogged down in the Tinsel Town of sin

Join in, or take it on the chin

You might dream a dream tomorrow

But today you walk in sorrow—Harlequin

Mask on, in a superficial stance

Laugh and scheme and dance your little dance

You believe today’s the day

To play your little play—your game of chance

Bogged down in the Tinsel Town of sin

Harlequin, dressed up as paladin

Confident—but not confiding

You fool the world by hiding—what’s within

You never trust they won’t, because they may

There is no past or future, just today

If you’re waiting for tomorrow

Every step is paved with sorrow—every step along the way

You might a dream a dream tomorrow

But today you walk in sorrow—Harlequin
